A husband and wife team, Roland and Colleen Lee have been building homes of distinction in Colorado and Texas for over 35 years.
Roland began his career building homes 1968 in the foothills southwest of Pueblo, Colorado and
started his own company in 1972. Working closely with each client Roland and Colleen built each home from design to finish, doing all the work, including concrete, electrical wiring, plumbing, insulation, and painting for each home. The trim and cabinets for each home
was designed by Roland and bits were made for his planer-molder. All trim was made and sanded individually by hand and the cabinets were custom built on site making each home truly one of a kind. In 1981
Roland was contacted and ask if he would consider building a home in Texas. Roland moved his family and began building near LaGrange Texas. Moving old homes and restoring them was a popular choice by many in this area.
During the process of restoration, many problems arose and Roland learned how to solve the worst-case scenario. This type of experience has given them a through understanding of every phase of the building process from design through completion.
In 1999 Roland and his wife decided to move back home to Colorado and are now building in the resort area of Vail Valley.
Building log and timber homes 8,000 sq ft. and over with a budgets of $4,000,000,00 and more. Both Roland and Colleen can be found on site throughout the job overseeing the work of subcontractors to ensure the finest quality of craftsmanship. It is not unusual to see either of them pick up a tool show to employee or subcontractor how to do something different in order to raise the standard of quality even more. Roland has been know to visit homes on holidays and during any crisis when a subcontractor cannot be reached, as he believes a happy client is not only a valuable asset but also a wonderful friend.
Overseeing the finish work on each project along with her husband,
Colleen works along with the clients to design stained glass windows, fireplace
doors, and do sketches as needed throughout the job to help relay ideas from the
builder or designer to the homeowner or subcontractor to ensure customers
understand what they are getting.
Between the structural knowledge that Roland has, his desire to provide more energy efficient luxury homes and with the artistic talents of his wife overseeing the finishes, we believe the homes of Mountain Air Builders have a rareness you seldom see.
